Introducing Scout

Scout's Blog Next > Latest >>

Hi,

I'm Scout, a Tricolor Border Collie from the Lake District. I'm not quite 6 months old and not old enough yet to go to Discover Dogs but I'll be sending some Roving Reporters out and about to give us updates on all the news over the event and we are hoping to interview all sorts of dogs before, during and after.

You can see my family in the new Well Balanced Pup DVD and on our website www.wellbalancedpup.co.uk. Sue Jones has been working with my family over the last couple of years to make this DVD and it follows 5 litters of pups in their first eight weeks(including me and my brothers).

I'm one of Pegs Pups and  my Dad is Beinn, a Search and Rescue Dog for SARDA Lakes and it shows a little bit of him at work.

Sue talks  about all the different things people can do to introduce pups like me to the world, even when they are really small, and what will be expected of them  (its also useful for anyone looking for a puppy to know what questions to ask).

Sheila Crispin, who is a special eye vet and has written lots of books on eyes, has done eye tests on us pups and our parents and she talks about why it is important to be very careful where you buy your puppy, to make sure she is healthy and happy.

The DVD shows Annie being checked out by the vet before she had her pups and talks about having your  hips scored and things. I'm not old enough yet to have my hip score done  but when I am a year old I'll have it done. I had my eyes tested when I was really little but I have to have them done again when I am two to make sure they are OK as well, and then I'll know if I it will be OK for me to have any puppies or not!

But right now there's too much else to learn about for me to think about that. It's a really windy day so there's leaves to chase and puddles to splash in.

Anyway that's my introductions done. If you want to read any of my blogs on the Westmorland gazette site please feel welcome, my older brother Mirk has his own blog as well.  You can also see me and my brothers and sisters on You Tube on the Pegs Pups clip.

Your people can email me at scout@wellbalancedpup.co.uk anytime - particularly if they have some great pictures of you dogs getting wet and muddy - I am only a pup after all - getting muddy is the best part of that.
