Scruffts is the nation’s favourite crossbreed competition and is a great way to enjoy time with your dog and family. A crossbreed is a dog of mixed blood, whose parents are of two different breeds, or a mixture of several breeds.
Throughout the year, heats of the popular Scruffts contest, which is exclusively supported by pet food makers James Wellbeloved, take place at events around the country in search of crossbreeds with that extra special something.
Do you know your hounds from your gundogs? Your St Bernards from your Bullmastiffs? Whether you're looking for the perfect small, medium or large dog breed, we’ve got them all at the show and dozens of pedigree breed experts are there to help you find the dog that best fits your lifestyle.
Even if you aren’t looking to get a dog, but just LOVE dogs, come along and just enjoy meeting hundreds of our furry four-legged friends.
This competition is specifically for Junior Warrant winners to compete against each other for the coveted title of 'The Kennel Club Junior Warrant Winner of the Year' award.
At each heat, five dogs and a reserve are selected by the judge and 64 dogs from the heats are then invited to the Semi Finals at Discover Dogs at ExCeL London. At Discover Dogs the dogs are exhibited in the main ring in two groups simultaneously and from this, the judges select the ten finalists to go on and compete at the Grand Final at Crufts, the following March.
We have some fantastic things going on for kids at Discover Dogs during October Half Term including, meeting more than 200 dog breeds, taking part in our exciting obstacle course over at the YKC ‘Have a Go’ ring (find out more below!) and of course what family fun day out is complete without visiting the Kids Zone.
Why not head on over to get your face painted and enjoy lots of arts and crafts including drawing on our giant chalk wall.
Come and watch some talented dogs strut their stuff with amazing dog displays and fast paced agility.
From the much-loved Southern Golden Retriever display to the Metropolitan Police showing us how highly skilled their police-dogs are, there is something for everyone in the main ring.
The Young Kennel Club (YKC) is the largest youth club for dog activities in the UK. Our team will be running the YKC ‘Have a Go’ ring, and we’re inviting any children who are visiting the show to come along and take part in the displays – such as trying out agility with one of our professional dogs!
Top tip – if you become a YKC member, you get a free ticket to Discover Dogs (and Crufts!)
